Glass Bead Workshop

The variety of glass beads I created today!

Today half of our Kiln Glass studio went to a workshop outside of Prague and got the chance to make our own glass beads through lampworking! It was a challenging and thrilling process, using flame and melting glass. Glass is very temperamental and would shatter/explode if not heated properly. I escaped with only one burn! I really enjoyed marbling colors together rather than making matching beads. I really hope I get the chance to do this again!

This is my morning view on my walk to the institute. I am still in awe of how beautiful this city is!

This week has flown by! We got to attend a cultural event at a local theatre in a courtyard! The actor group: Handa Gote, focuses on the idea that all things are ephemeral. They performed Erben Dreams, the most bizarre and interesting performance I have experienced thus far in life. We also had breakfast for dinner potluck this week! ( My contribution: Banana Chocolate Chip Pancakes <3). In kiln glass we are making samples for our next two projects, a brooch and a plate/bowl. I am testing different metals in the kiln, to see how they changed when fired. Can't wait to see how they turn out!
