This is an on going project focused on the creation of products designed and produced with comfort and a positive patient experience in mind. This is an on going project of developing a collection of interior goods, paper products, and an activity bag for patients at Duke Children’s Hospital. With design in mind, these products are not only attractive to children in the hospital, but marketable to the general public as well. All products will be displayed and sold, with a percentage being donated to Duke Children’s Hospital on behalf of Dance Marathon at NC State. Using the epidemiology of disease as inspiration, print motifs and a pattern collection have been created to support patients. Miracle Makers achieve this by providing comfort both physically and emotionally, while at the same time bringing awareness to the epidemic of childhood illness and demonstrating the strength of each person affected. The ultimate goal of this research is to advocate, inspire, and fundraise for those who are fighting for their lives through print and application. Continuing this research into how color and pattern can improve hospital environments... stay tuned!
